There's no shine really and it does work pretty well with thick hair. But, there are better hair products in general that I think work better than this for thick hair like Baxter of California Clay Pomade

Q: Is this product re-workable. Say if you ride a motorcycle a mile to work everyday sometimes putting on a helmet and other days not?

I've been using it for about a month and haven't had your experience but I would say yes. I've noticed that after my hair has been done for a while that I can run my fingers through it and adjust if needed. It does seem to have more volume.
