All the 1-star reviews are RIGHT, BUT.. so are the 5-star reviews.. and here’s why:
The media could not be loaded. So, I’ve been on the search for the BEST, “bang for your buck” foam sound-proofing panels.. and I FINALLY found them!.. However! These unfortunately do come with a “russian roulette” type of odds when it comes time to open them up.Before I ordered, I noticed all the negative reviews.. and I was quite worrisome. Since I needed these ASAP for an upcoming piano recital, which I’m recording from home. But, I just went for it.. and bought multiple packs. They arrived very quickly, each and every time I’ve ordered them.Once you open the box, you’ll see multiple packs of them. They’re all tightly bound together, in an outer plastic layer. As you rip through the first layer of plastic it will release the multiple packs (at this point you still don’t know if you got a good one.) It’s as you start to rip open one of the individual packs, you see the air either does absolutely NOTHING.. and the foam stays flat OR it fills the bag up as you are ripping the plastic; due to the expansion of the panels. This is how you can tell immediately if your whole batch is faulty or as advertised (no need to rip open the other individual packs, they’re gonna be the same as the first one you opened.)They’re either 👍🏻 or 🚮 There’s no in-between.You don’t have to wait hours, it happens immediately (at most in a few minutes.)Soaking them in water does eliminate any odors from the foam, but it doesn’t make the foam change in size (so in my opinion, a total waste of time.) The odors are honestly super minimal, nothing that should be of concern. If you want to transform your studio.. help cut down in reverb, quiet the noise between a neighbors wall, or whatever it may be.. these are the most quality you’ll find for this price point. Therefore, I highly recommend these to everyone! You will not be disappointed.. UNLESS.. you get faulty ones, but don’t fret!Just immediately go to Amazon, click return and order some new ones. They usually come next day, open them up. If they’re faulty again.. rinse and repeat. I just would hold off on returning any of them until you have exactly the amount you need in hand.Don’t expect them to ALWAYS come as pictured, as I said.. it’s about a 50/50 shot, generally. So, if you’re willing to take the risk (of wasting a little time potentially).. it’s surely worth the reward of a beautiful studio, on a budget!!Hope you have great luck and success, with whatever you choose to do with these! :)

A great sound absorber!
Got these to line the walls of my bedroom so when I'm clapping cheeks the rest of the family doesn't hear the clappage. So far so good! Might do the bathroom as well so I don't wake everyone up with my explosive diarrhea at 4am

A little thicker would be nice
Works well with my home studio. Material quality could be a little better. Could be a little thicker installs easy. Removes easy. Could be more durable if it was a little thicker. Sound insulation is okay but it would be better if it were thicker. My gf is nice but she could be….a little thicker.

It held up great
Unfortunately, I had to move to a new house but I couldn’t remove them out of my wall and if I did, they would rip

Not at ALL like all the reviews I've read.
I was searching everywhere for acoustic panels for my home studio.Something to get the job done at this price.I researched many sellers, many shops and many designs and ALL THE REVIEWS for all these items were "horrible packaging, horrible smell, do not even try to wait 48h you need to soak and the smell will still be horrible"I picked 2 sellers and decided to buy from them. After that I decided to check even more on amazon and find this product from this seller.AND THANK GOD I SWITCHED TO THIS.The pack of 24 was packed PERFECTLY.I thought I needed to unpack, keep for 48h and was searching for a way to soak them in water.I received them all extremely well packed, vacuum sealed the RIGHT WAY.I removed them from the packaging, they are all without any smell whatsoever, and in perfect shape. Not a single one is bent, smaller in size or needs time to gain full form.I will not need to do anything but put them on the wall of my studio!10/10.Thank you.

A few highs & a one disappointment: They just don't dampen sound
I bought 3 packs of these acoustic foam panels for a basement jut-in where our son games. He's exceptionally loud and our basement is open to the rest of our home so we can hear him watching TV in either our FR or LR. I was hoping these would do the trick.First, installation. I bought the version with the self-adhesion. That works really well- no problems there! I did the ceiling, walls and areas around the TV in a space that is only about 8' x 6' or so. I was able to easily cut this and form the patterns that would look good. The look? These look pretty good when the work is completed. That might be the best quality of this item that is supposed to have some functionality.Quality/consistency: Frankly, some of the pieces were THINNER than others, which I saw across 3 packages. That was maddening. And no, they didn't expand while airing out. I just put all of these such pieces in areas I didn't think were as vital. Which, you should not have to do!DO THEY WORK: Sadly, no. I spent a LOT of money on these and they just don't dampen sound at all. My wife told me not to do it, that it would be a waste of money, etc. I thought she might be right and tried. It didn't work to reduce sound. That said, I'll give it a 2 or 3 b/c it looks good in this space and looks like we are trying. That said, ask yourself: Do you "need" these to work? If so, skip them. We've asked our son not to yell while gaming with friends and that is a work in progress.
