it's a pretty solid start.
I've got a friend who's opening a micro brewery.he assured me that this is probably the best starting point for home brewing mead or cider, since it has a low nutrition requirement, high fermentation speed, ability to tolerated a fairly wide temperature range (10-30°C) and restarts a stalled fermentation quite easily. Can't complain my batch was pretty good, it just won't die, so I've been drinking live mead this whole time. So if they can personally I'd consider going with ICV D47 if you can maintain a stable (15-20°C) temperature just because it's got a lower alcohol yield and will probably die off more easily making it easier to stabilise. honestly I kind of wish I bought like a packet of 5.that being said drinking live mead is kind of nice, it's naturally carbonated, it's a pain in the ass off gassing the bottles when I wake up. probably has some microbiotic benefits to.Oh and this has alcohol tolerance of about 18% it doesn't mention it on any more packages so I figured I'd save you a few minutes of googling.

Good yeast at reasonable price
EC-1118 is an famous yeast in the mead making community. Works pretty well for any kind of wine, mead, or even cider. You can find slightly better yeasts for certain applications like cider, or certain kinds of fruit wines. Generally though it's a solid choice for many types of homebrew and is known to be very reliable and outcompete any wild yeasts or other nasties that might try to get involved. It's also got a high tolerance for high strength brews. Just don't use it for beer or ale, it's not designed for that and you will probably be disappointed.
