creepshow is a forgotten gem of a horror movie. The most fun you'll have been SCARED!!!!!
I remember watching this for the first time with my dad during halloween on one of those Horror marathons that used to be on BBC2. I was waiting to see this after seeing a clip of it on the same channel. Good to see that i was not disappointed with the feature presentation. Five great and terrifying stories of the Macabre by two of the best horror masters Stephen king and George A. Romero. I suppose you could say Six stories if you count the wraparound story of Billy (the boy reading the comic) and his Dad. The effects may be old school but i value them much more than most of the CGI effects they have nowadays. Creepshow stills scares me to this day. John Harrison (who later scored the music of Day of the Dead) devises a brilliantly creepy and chilling soundtrack which pretty much put you in the mood for whats to come, Pure unsettling horror. When i first heard the theme at the start of the movie, it send shivers down my spine and still does nowadays whenever i watch it. This was the film that got me into all the other anthropology horrors like Asylum, from Beyond the grave, Vault of horror, Tales from the crypt, Dr terrors house of horrors and many more. Now finally Creepshow gets the treatment it deserves and a forgotten classic is re-remembered for what it was, spine chilling horror. It's just too bad that the other sequels (yes i'm including Creepshow 3) weren't directed by George (he was only the scriptwriter for the second one) and again have 5 great horrifying stories (the second one only has three. Only three??? Why couldn't they have added two more?) cause that would have made it an unforgettable trilogy of the horror comic-style franchise. If you enjoy being scared, you're in for the fright of your life.

Phenomenal picture and sound
I’ve owned Creepshow on every format over the years (it’s a favourite!), and was overjoyed at what I saw here. I was blown away by the picture quality - a close up of a festering zombie crawling with worms was my first WOW moment, and they kept coming. The sound (via an Atmos track that is not listed here or on the box!) was also brilliant.A very very nice presentation.

Monster Mash!
Five tales of terror from the archives of the old 1950's EC horror comics (unless Stephen King just made em up?! I wouldn't know any difference..) are given the box office treatment and crawl out of their graves at the chimes of midnight, to whisper nightmares into our unconscious mind and slide under the covers at the bottom of our beds to chill the very feet we walk on, with ice cubes straight from The Reaper's own fridge freezer. . . Or something! Especially if you are a kiddy or a complete wimp!It had been many years since I'd seen this American portmanteau horror from the 80's and I have to say, I was mostly impressed. The direction is well done, the stories are admittedly a bit hit and miss but some of the effects and overall tone are excellent. I wont go through the short stories other than to say I liked 'The Crate' the best. In a lot of ways Creepshow reminded me of Bradbury's October Country or maybe something Matheson would cook up in his 'Shock' series, either way a lot of effort has gone into it and although it's somewhat more silly than scary, it is well worth a viewing largely due to the aforementioned production qualities and fine cast. The US blu~ray disc quoted here on Amazon as region A is actually region free (it works on my region locked UK player). The print is very good with some nice deep colours. Which is nice to see, as it's a film that uses a lot of colour. The biggest drawback being that there are no extras to be had other than a trailer... Sorry Kev!

4K Disc is Region Free so will play in UK
Currently at this time Creepshow is very hard to find in the UK, so I imported this 4K Ultra HD collector set from the US, and can confirm that the 4K disc is region free, so will play on any 4K player. The second bluray disc is Region A so will NOT play in the UK. I bought the set just for the 4K disc so not an issue. The transfer to 4K is INCREDIBLE!! The movie is crystal clear quality image with vivid colours and deep blacks, I am so impressed with this new transfer! You would think it was a recently made movie! Do not hesitate to buy this for your collection!

George should be proud
Why has this only just been released in ths country when part 2 (which is no where near as good as part 1) has been out for years ? (Similar to poltergeist which had its inferior sequels released years before). Anyway that aside i am really glad this has been released as its one of romero's finest films and i cant believe how long i have had to live without this film !! Quality storys by stephen king (Who himself acts in one of the storys) and directed to perfection by george a romero, what more could you want from a horror film ? If you havent seen this and your a fan of stephen kings storys and george romero's films then you will love this.

Great edition
Overall a great product, the only thing I have to say is that I didn't get the black sleeve that is shown in the photo, that's a bummer, it looks cool and of course protect my dvd. Other than that it's a great product, like I said. This edition is a good pick for those who are true fans of horror genre. The second disc contains behind the scenes and the fx of master Savini.
