Product Description Pine Ridge Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Wine presents a beautiful opaque ruby hue in the glass. Lush aromas of dark currant and deep black cherry are joined by touches of fresh vanilla bean and toasted cinnamon. The velvety palate opens with flavours of luscious red cherry, cassis and briary blackberry fruit that melt into hints of star anise, ground clove and sweet tobacco leaf, all carried by supple tannins through the lasting finish.The fruit for this vintage was chosen from several premier sites throughout the Napa Valley. Closely spaced vines and attentive farming of the vineyard blocks that produced the crop contributed to the bright, complex layers of flavour that characterise this bottling.The Russian River area had its second freezing cold summer in a row, but unlike the warm ending to the 2010 growing year, 2011 remained cool and the Autumn rains started early. The crop was fairly small but the wines showed great purity of fruit and very precise aromas. This is a very elegant and restrained vintage.The grapes were gently hand-harvested into small boxes, then quickly destemmed into tank on arrival at the winery. After fermentation, the wine underwent 18 days of extended maceration and was then aged in 70% French and 30% American oak barrels, 50% new, for 17 months before bottling in May 2010.
