So Much More than a Kitchen Scale - A "Nutrition" Scale.I bought this scale - not to lose weight...although it could be used for that - quite effectively, but to track my Sodium, Calories, Fats, Sugars and overall Daily "LIMITS" levels from the Food I consume.Nothing could work better. ALL the Nutrition DATA is on EVERY product LABEL...from Calories..ALL the way down to mcg. of Vitamins...Potassium..Fiber..etc. the "Killer App" of this scale is that you can SCAN the UPC..."price code" and say 90+% of the time, the EXACT product is found, and uploaded. From then on...take a week to upload your "repeat" food, and anything you add to your diet. If a product is NOT FOUND..you can "create food" and add the nutrition numbers in...it's easy. You can even load a "Taco Bell" Burrito...the nutrition facts are online...easy to find.Ok...Things to note:- You have to "ADD" products to get them in the database...BUT they are easy to DELETE...they say 'swipe right or left" Iphone or Android...but do this instead..."PUSH DOWN" on item...gives you delete.- You can Also add "MEALS"...just make a list of a meal you eat, and click on ... and "Add as a meal"...name it..and it becomes a choice...like a potato.- You can add grams, oz, ml. etc of food 2 ways..A. Just tare a bowl..weigh food, enter weight..B. "LIVE" weight....choose a food from your list...with scale ON...and weight/cal..ALL categories "fill in"...save..and it's recorded. Cool Feature Really.- You can search food by typing it in - search database (if not in your data)..or it searches your food so no scrolling.- Sort alphabetically or by "recent" most used..- bummer it doesn't keep your last search criteria.- You can add your age..height weight gender AND DIET you choose...I did DASH..and it gives you Kcal per day...Calories...- BUT..you can go to SETTINGS..and enter your Calorie limit/goal...AND Add limits to EACH category...- ie..I put in the LIMITS daily for DASH...2300 mg SODIUM...Down to 15 mcg Vitamin D..- Given all this...You can..And I do..MEET ALL your limits per day by entering Breakfast lunch dinner snacks...and as the day goes on..you can "customize" dinner..snacks etc. if you are going to go over a limit. (The one exception is SUGARS..I think this scale counts FRUIT sugars equal to added sugars in processed food IMHO)...watch for that.- Lastly...NUTRITION INFORMATION gives you a rundown of numbers vs limits...and some verbiage on what to do if you blow a limit....green is good..red is over.- Lastly lastly...lll 3 bars gives you daily, weekly, monthly histograms of calories per meal, and Carbs protein fats per day week month breakdown.It's entirely possible to enter EVERYTHING you Eat...but it takes a bit of time commitment. Even if you don't enter everything...or skip days...using it a few times correctly gives you an idea of what you are eating "Numerically".Great product...sturdy..sleek..easy to use...Get One. When a friend told me about this I thought it was straight out of star trek. "What do you mean you can just put food on a scale and it will tell you what's in it?" I didn't believe it existed until I saw it. I'm used to the manual calculations and all that tedious stuff that makes tracking macros/calories pretty annoying. I get this thing and it just blows my mind. I scan the barcode, weigh the thing, and even better yet they have an app it all plugs into.Totally redefining how I approach food (a single serving of granola is how small?!) and it's even better when I have to fit in specific macros by the end of the day to meet my goals. You can weigh it with various units, tare it as you add ingredients to get specific measurements. Measurements seem accurate, I'm in a deficit and I'm losing weight so that means the scale is working! Bluetooth is easy, but if you're in a household with more than one person using this scale, sometimes you need to power it off and back on while youre trying to connect to ensure it's your phone that is the one connecting.Overall, this thing is magic, helping me achieve my goals and I am not kidding when I say this should be in every household, just like every car has a seatbelt. So many people would live healthier lives if they had something this easy to calculate what they're eating each day.My only fear is that they will put the app behind a subscription, because this scale is all about reducing barriers and doing so would be antithetical to what this scale does.

I purchased the Etekcity Food Kitchen Scale to help me accurately measure food portions as part of a New Year's diet. Trying to eyeball portion sizes can be tricky, so using the weight measurements from food labels and this scale makes calorie tracking much more precise.While I don't have another scale to verify its accuracy, the weight measurements seem consistent and reliable for my needs. The scale is incredibly easy to operate with a single button for on/off and a dedicated tare function that works almost instantly.Cleaning is a breeze thanks to the stainless steel surface – it simply wipes clean. The LCD display is clear and easy to read. My only minor wish is that it was extendable, as large bowls can sometimes obstruct the view. However, for such an affordable, entry-level scale, this is a minor inconvenience, and you can find models with that feature for a slightly higher price if it's a necessity.I appreciate the automatic shut-off feature, which prevents accidental battery drain if I forget to turn it off after use. This is my first dedicated kitchen scale, so I don't have a comparison point, but I can say that this Etekcity scale does exactly what I need it to do. It provides accurate weights for my food portions and was very reasonably priced. It's a basic but effective tool that perfectly fulfills its purpose for my dietary needs.

I have one complaint. The screen shuts off too soon. I zeroed out (Tare) the scale to add and weight the next item and it shut off while I was looking up the item in the app. I couldn’t get a final count because it would have been impossible to remove the other item that we’re already mixed in. I need to work faster. Next time I’ll get the product loaded up in the app first before adding it to the bowl. Otherwise it’s a cool product and pretty smart. The app is pretty smart too.
