These make a huge difference with the fruit trees. Before using this, ants and other pests were destroying most of my fruit. You would see steady streams of ants going up and down the trees all day long long every day. But just a small band of this around the trunk at the beginning of each year will protect the tree all spring and summer until you get your delicious unblemished fruit! I messed around with the expensive paper bands they recommend the first year, then tried making my own base bands with paper bags the next year, then the third year I tried plastic wrap, but with all of these options, the ants would find ways to crawl right under the banding, making the sticky stuff useless. I finally called the manufacturer and they said it shouldn't do any harm to put it right on the tree, other than just staining the tree. Now I just apply it right over the dried up patch from the previous year, right on the tree bark, and it keeps all the insects off! I've been doing it this way for three years now, and haven't noticed any harm to the trees or any downside to direct application.

Very effective! My roses got invaded by these bugs and flies. The spread is very sticky. I had a few of these wax sticks at home and ended up spreading the mixture on all sides of the stick then placed them in the soil, under the rose bush and other flowers m. Voila ! I used this for an outdoor cat shelter that had ant problems. It works really well and caught most of the ants, but needs to be reapplied every so often. It holds up decently in bad weather, but heavy rain and wind will cause leaves, twigs, and other small objects to get stuck and reduce the efficiency..

It’s all good. East to work with, use gloves, use plastic disposable fork or spoon to apply. Put plastic film underneath, wrap around the tree, then apply past, it’s thick, great barrier. I will also get ladybugs, that can help to clean up tree from infestation.

Ok was Leary about this stuff at first thinking it would either not cause the bugs to stick or wash away real fast, been several weeks and still working strong, recommend using a flexible putty knife to apply.

Although this material has been around for a long time, it is very difficult to apply. When I observe the ants, they just walk around it and try and avoid it So perhaps this is exactly what it’s supposed to do but I’m sure if you had some specialized uses or applicators. It may be easy, but this was not the correct purchase for us.

Had ants in my peach tree along with in my lawn so decided to give this a try until I get my lawn under control. Works as advertised and catches other annoying insects like flies and mosquitoes. Picture was taken next day after application.

Too difficult to spread. WAY too thick.To cover a mailbox post (because of incoming crawlers) I used a bondo spreader, which was too flexible. With a stiff metal spreader it would have been better, but still would have been too difficult to spread, too difficult to leave a thin coat, which means that a lot of glue, and a lot of time would be required.
